Review: Estee Lauder Gift with Purchase

When I find something I like, I usually stick with it. I have very sensitive skin so I am not into experimenting when it comes to my skin care. Recently I had run out of my usual foundation, a Clinique liquid to powder.

When I went in to purchase, I couldn’t find my usual tone. This happens so much to me. It’s so frustrating. You get used to something, really like the shade, then you go to re-purchase and find they no longer sell it.

Of course, the representative for the counter was on a lunch break as well. The woman from the Estee Lauder counter came over, was so nice and tried really hard to help me out. Considering it wasn’t her station, I would say she was very courteous. It is because she was so obliging, that I asked her to take me to her counter and show me what she had. I can’t believe how much time she spent with me helping me choose my products.

Estee Lauder gift with purchase review. Makeup includes foundation and lipstick. Skin care includes moistirizer.

These are the products I purchased:

Matte Perfecting Primer $40CDN Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup (Ekru) $44CDN

I have combination skin and a lot of products will produce a shine on me. I absolutely hate that. I love matte but also have to be careful that the product is not too thick and emphasizes the wrinkles I am starting to notice.

I absolutely love this combination. The primer goes on so nice and really evens out my skin tone. I notice I do not have to apply as much foundation either. The foundation is not too runny or creamy, applies nicely and completes the matte, flawless appearance I am looking for. And it lasts forever! You look perfect all day long!

Lucky for me, there was a free gift with purchase that week. I have always been a firm believer  in using one brand of products for all my skin care needs. I believe they are made to compliment each other and give you the best results. With my free gift, I was going to be able to try out their skin care line.

Review of the Skin Care Line

I can’t believe the difference in my skin. My complexion always seems to have little bumps and red blotches. This skin care regime has greatly improved the way my skin looks. I have even ventured out into the sunlight without makeup because of the changes. Believe me, I would never have done that before.

Perfectly Clean Cleanser – I probably wasted a lot of this sample because I was used to another product that always needed a fair size dollop to wash my entire face. You don’t need a lot of this cleanser to get the job done. It leaves the skin feeling clean but not tight. Skin is soft and feels moisturized.

Reversing Wrinkle Cream – This is a day and night cream. I really love the texture and consistency. It does not leave the skin greasy but you can feel that it super hydrates the skin. Love the way my face feels after applying this product.

Night Repair Eye – This product is clear and semi-thick. It applies really nice and a little goes a long way. I do believe that the creases around my eyes are less noticeable since using this product.

Night Repair Recovery – This product is clear and I found it to be too runny. I believe the full size comes with an applicator which would be very useful. I felt like I was just applying expensive water on my face. I ended up spilling a lot of it. I’m not keen on this consistency and would have liked something that was thicker.

I spent over $80 on my original purchase so I was able to get an additional free gift. A small pouch with 3 lipsticks.

Melon, Beige, Pink Parfait
Melon, Beige, Pink Parfait

The melon colour is actually way more orange than it appears in this picture. The other two colours I really liked. Unfortunately, I will never use any of them. I can’t believe the smell. Yes, all three have an odour that I just can’t get past. They do apply nice but I can’t attest to wearability because I had to remove them. The fragrance is that strong.

I am very pleased that fate had a hand in me trying a new product line. This was truly an amazing win for me! I’m very happy with my gifts and will be going back to purchase the full size products of the skin care line soon.
