How To Experience A True Haunted Halloween In Southern Ontario

From the Courthouse to the Apothecary and the Royal George Theatre, it is easy to think you have been transported back in time when visiting the charming town of Niagara on the Lake, but don’t get too comfortable. NOTL also claims to be the most haunted town in Canada. With 80% of the homes here boasting to have at least 2 resident ghosts, this seems to be the best place to experience the spookiest night of the year, Halloween.

If you don’t mind sharing your room with guests that have never left, you can stay in one of the many hotels, inns or B&B’s that claim to be haunted. Who needs to sleep anyway? Oh, and pack extra underwear.

  1. Great Post, thanks for sharing. I love NOTL. I am curious about your header picture. It is a fantastic shot, but is it from NOTL? It looks to be from a bar in Tennessee?

Hi Elena! I came over from Suzie’s blog party. I used to live in Burlington and have been to NOTL many times – it was a gorgeous town then and I’m sure it still is. Thanks for sharing the darker side – good luck at the haunted hotel tomorrow night 🙂

Each time I visit Niagara Falls, I look at the map and see how close NOTF is, but so far, haven’t ventured down there. Next time.

  4. Ooh how fun!! I LOVE Halloween *AND* I love Canada — clearly I need to check one of these places out next year.

This was a very interesting read! I would love to visit this town – maybe not for the ghosts so much as it just looks like such a beautiful place! Curious to see how your Halloween stay goes. 🙂

There are so many beautiful little artisan shops as well as a year round Christmas store. Fabulous restaurants and theatre too. I recommend the horse and buggy ride to get a glimpse of everything. You should visit, it’s awesome for so many reasons.
