Why Bullet Journalling Will Make You A Better Blogger

I have been researching on Pinterest for days to find out all I can about bullet journalling. Wow, some people are obsessed! Everyone swears that it helps them keep on track so I am going to give it a go. I have bought a bright pink Leuchtturm1917 Notebook, (affiliate link), a ruler and a package of coloured pens. I have even created a few spreads already.

I am ashamed to admit that I am a very unorganized blogger. Who am I kidding? I am not that together in any other aspect of my life either. You would think that once you hit midlife that you would have your crap together and have your life running on cruise control but heck no, not me.

Thankfully, my kids are grown, and almost gone (:)), so my scattered brain does not get me too far off track in the running of my household and it was fine for years as a hobby blogger. But now that I have a viable business, I am afraid my laziness (yes, that is what it is at the root), is hurting me professionally and stealing away time from me personally.

I vow to change that. I have decided that my word for 2017 will be organization and I am not waiting for the new year to start!

  1. I love the idea, but like Corinne I’m not confident of my stick-to-itiveness. What I started doing is to keep on online editorial calendar for my blog, and that’s where I dump all my ideas for posts. I peruse it periodically and move ideas into a specific place in the calendar so I know what I’m doing when. But I do carry a notebook in my purse and have one by the bed–just in case inspiration strikes (and I can’t remember shit if I don’t write it down!).

  2. Hi Elena, I have designed a simple journal online that I use constantly my partner and I dubbed the transformational blogging journal. It is not cute, but I like it because I can cut and paste quote, addresses, etc. I review it each month and add similar posts I’ve written so I can link to them easily, It has transformed my blogging, and I use it nearly every day. I do not keep my sign in information there, though, and that is a great idea. Yours is much more beautiful 🙂 BTW, thanks for following my blog. 🙂 I’m already a fan of yours. Have a great holiday.

  3. Hi Elena,

I’ve been hearing a big buzz about Bulleting lately. I do use a planner for all my online activities, as well as my business. This Bulleting may be a better way of doing it. Might give it a shot.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

    1. That is terrific. I think we have done ourselves a disservice trying to do everything electronically. There is nothing like putting pen to paper.

  4. I love “bullet journals” and use Moleskine for all my journals. I love them because everything goes in them, ideas, plans, posts. I save them all because I can open any one of them at any time and find a new idea that I haven’t used yet.

  5. I keep a paper journal handy and bullet point ideas – it’s good to refer back to and easier than hunting through a Word document when I just want to bounce some stuff around. I didn’t know it was an actual “thing” to do – now I feel very savvy! PS my word for 2017 is “Enough”

    1. I think there is nothing like physically putting your hands on a journal. I believe what we write down, sticks better, if that makes any sense. Enough is a great word! I think we should do a roundup of posts with everyone’s word of the year.

  6. I’m a great starter but a poor finisher, Elena. I’ve read about bullet journaling and would love to try it, but am so skeptical of my own ability to stay the course.
Good luck to both of us! 🙂

  7. My word for 2017 is Simplify, Elena, so anything that helps me cut back on the hours I spend blogging will be great. I think I’ve actually been using a form of bullet journal but know it can be improved. Look forward you reading more.

    1. Simplify is an awesome word! I am working on a table to track my social media sharing. Mostly to stop me from going over. Both time wise and number of new posts I read and share daily.
